Avatar!

Hey Gators!

I finally saw Avatar this weekend--in 3D. So cool! Definitely one of my favorite movies of all time. Some people see parallels between Avatar and other movies, like Dances with Wolves and Fern Gully. What do you think? Check out the making of Avatar, and if you're liking the get-away to an alien planet idea, check out the Sci-Fi books in your Gator Library! If it's the ecological aspect of Avatar that has you intrigued, find books on ecology in the 500s.

Wimpy Kid comes to the movies!

Hey Gators!

Last night at book club, we were talking about how cool it is when a book "makes a movie" in your head. Some of our favorite books have been made into real movies, and now this March another favorite will hit the theaters! Check out this movie trailer from the Wimpy Kid Movie--what do you think about the actors chosen for the parts? Do they match the ones that were already in YOUR head? Comment to the blog and let us know! If you haven't read the books yet-find 'em in fiction: FIC KIN!

Olympics Blog

Hey Gators!

Opening ceremonies are this Friday evening...will you be there? Yeah, me neither. I bet Quinn and Evan might be though. Quinn-and-Evan-who you might be asking? Quinn and Evan are a couple of kids living in the Vancouver area who will be attending Olympic events with their dad, and then blogging about them. I've added a 'feed' to their blog in the "My Blogs" section of this blog (under the walking gator, under the welcome...there it is!) Click on the hyperlink there to get to "2010 Fun and Games blog." Check back often for updates reflecting a kid's perspective of the Winter Games! Today's (February 10) post discusses the logo for the Vancouver 2010 games, seen at the top of THIS post. You'll also find their Twitter feed in the right sidebar of the blog--students: this feed may be blocked for you--sorry. The Twitter feed has lots of Olympic links!
